"People still argue whether Al-Mutanabbi or Al-Ma`arri was the best poet of Arabic ever. I am a fan of both but I am politically closer to Al-Ma`arri as he was a great advocate of reason and critic of clerics and religion in general. Syrian rebels beheaded the statue of Ma`arri in Syria and accused him of infidelity. Kid you not."

Al-Ma'arri is my favorite poet and philosopher, I still recite some of his poem. I mentioned that before (on Twitter) Syria's Fascistoislamists hate him and Ibn-sina (Avecenna).
