During the last two days, Professor As'ad AbuKhalil is facing attacks by the Phoenician Lebanese movement, because he sharply criticized one of racist & fascist Lebanese poets who supported the Israeli invasion of Lebanon (1982).
By the way, the Phoenician Lebanese nationalism is well-known among Arab intellectuals. The movement was found by some Lebanese right-wing Christians who denied the Arabian origin of Lebanon and referred the country to the old Mediterranean civilization (Phoenicia).
Notably, the Phoenician Lebanese movement is supremacistic. They also think that oriental culture, science and civilization are restricted in Lebanon, the land of Phoenician descendants. As I know Some North African countries, such as Tunisia and Libya were Phoenician lands too.
Any way, may Allah be with him as he face very thick bloody persons (in English translation: persons who lack sense of humor).
