Gazprom Signs 20-Year LNG Purchase Deal with Israel

Published on 23 March 2013, by M. Tomazy.
"A subsidiary of Russian energy giant Gazprom has signed a 20-year deal with Levant LNG Marketing Corp. to exclusively purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Israel’s Tamar offshore gas field in the Mediterranean, Gazprom said on Tuesday.

The agreement, which will expand Gazprom’s LNG exports and trading portfolio, follows a letter of intent signed by Gazprom in March 2012."

Levant is the historic territory which currently includes Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine. There is specific symbolism about the Name of the Israeli corporation "Levant LNG Marketing". I also think Israel intended to make geostrategic deal with Russian Gazprom Company, rather than a Western Petroleum Company such as Shell, British Petroleum, Exxon Mobil or Total because Israel plans to catch the Lebanese Gas fields in the Mediterranean sea and therefore Russia would not Support the Arab side (Lebanon) in the future because Gazprom would be the other partner of the Israeli "LEVANT" Corporation.
