Earlier this month, the National Republican Campaign Committee began running an ad across the state in an effort to link Ashford to Nikko Jenkins, a convicted killer who murdered four people last summer after getting released from prison for good behavior. Jenkins served half of his 21-year sentence for robbery and assault because of the state’s “Good Time Law,” which Ashford supported.
