Kerry: US Will ‘Do What We Must’ to Stop Iran

Published on 25 January 2013, by M. Tomazy.
Senator John Kerry (D – MA) vowed that the US would “do what we must” to stop Iran from ever acquiring a nuclear weapon, adding that “the clock is ticking” for Iran to comply with US demands.
OK, to get AIPAC's and Israel's "permission" to become the US Secretary of State, Kerry has obviously gulped down the koolaid on Iran in one tremendous, gassy swallow, and this does not bode well for peace in the Middle East and beyond.
It is painfully clear, to thinking Americans, that this is simply grand geopolitical theatre, in light of the fact that the only "clocks" which are ticking are those of the Israeli government, which keenly wants Americans to die and get maimed for life in such a war, and the US government's economic clock, sputtering and stuttering out of control due to the horrific deficits the government has run up in these immoral and illegal wars with out end.
The conflict, from the US government perspective, has absolutely nothing to do with Iran's peaceful nuclear energy program, which, to date, has not been found by any IAEA inspection to be diverting any nuclear energy materials toward a nuclear weapons program; the real core of the issue is that Iran refuses to sell all of its oil in US dollars.
In the immortal words of Mythbuster's Adam Savage, "THERE's your Problem!!"
But the US attacking Iran could create even worse problems for this country than the possible outcome (which I don't think is in the works) of Iran arriving at a place where they would be producing nuclear weapons.
Unfortunately, US government has made it abundantly clear what happens to countries which do not have a nuclear deterrent (or sell their oil for currencies other than the US dollar), as happened with the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
But a US war against Iran may well go very badly for the US, and for the following reasons: the US government doesn't have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to insure a successful outcome.
IF the war goes long, US and Israeli resources in the region will be under massive Iranian counter-attack, and Hezbullah will attack Israel from the north; Israeli casualties will be enormous.
Add to that the reality that Russian and Chinese leadership have stated, very publicly, that should Iran be attacked by Israel and/or the US, these nuclear-armed countries will come to their aid militarily, and you have the perfect storm for a global nuclear confrontation, because this is not a war the US government can will conventionally.
