The obituaries of mainstream U.S. media and "western" politicians on the Saudi King Abdullah are laughingly sycophantic:A master politician, he gained a reputation as a reformer without changing his country’s power structure and maintained good relations with the United States while striking an independent course in foreign policy. The Post closed its comment section on the obit to not be called out for its bootlicking. How much did the Saudis pay for this coverage? For a realistic view on the now dead monster read the Guardian obit: Monarch whose reign saw the spread of division, corruption and strife, and was saved only by ‘black gold’. The deceased left dozens of wives, tens of kids and ten-thousands of terrorists behind him.
The new king Salman, a fervent Wahabbi who has Alzheimer and is unlikely to rule for long, immediately launched an internal coup to further empower his branch of the tribal family:
Salman moved swiftly to undo the work of his half-brother. He decided not to change his crown prince Megren, who was picked by King Abdullah for him, but he may choose to deal with him later. However, he swiftly appointed another leading figure from the Sudairi clan. Mohammed Bin Nayef, the interior minister is to be his deputy crown prince. It is no secret that Abdullah wanted his son Meteb for that position, but now he is out.More significantly, Salman, himself a Sudairi, attempted to secure the second generation by giving his 35- year old son Mohammed the powerful fiefdom of the defense ministry. The second post Mohammed got was arguably more important. He is now general secretary of the Royal Court. All these changes were announced before Abdullah was even buried. There will likely be some resistance and strife within the Saudi ruling family about these changes. The smooth transfer of power today may turn out to be the start of rather chaotic developments.

40 types of laser displayed at exhibition but international officials remain concerned about laser's role in nuclear enrichement.
An exhibition of Iran's achievements in laser technology opened Thursday in Tehran, but the international community showed more interest in the role lasers play in the country's enrichment of nuclear materials.
"More than 40 types of lasers, from milliwatts to kilowatts in power are being displayed at the exhibition," said Seyed Hasan Nabavi, director of the Iranian National Center of Laser Science and Technology Research.
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Western officials are concerned about whether the country is developing advanced lasers suitable for uranium enrichment.
And even Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi Fard, the first deputy speaker of the Iranian parliament, said the lasers could have military uses.
During a visit to the exhibition, Aboutorabi Fard said developments in laser technolgy would ultimately improve Iran's defensive power, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.
The most recent round of negotiations on Iran's controversial nuclear program failed to meet its November 2014 deadline for achieving a permanent settlement. However, Tehran and the so-called P5+1 -- the U.S., the U.K., France, China and Russia plus Germany -- agreed to extend the talks until July, voicing optimism that remaining disputes can be resolved.
World powers suspect Iran is seeking to acquire nuclear weapons and have imposed economic sanctions since 2006. Iran says its uranium enrichment program is for peaceful purposes only.
The laser exhibition was inaugurated by Aboutorabi Fard and Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
The three day exhibition, which is open to the public, will run through Sunday.
Editor's Comment:
Either we agree with the Iranian policy or not, I think the Iranian government is dependent and well self-respected.
In comparison with Iran's neighboring countries, Iran is more progressive in the military, hitech, space and medical fields despite the Western sanctions. However, the Iranian regime is undoubtedly sectarian with Persian tinge.
Regarding the "suspected" Iranian nuclear intentions: Israel, Pakistan and India, all of them have nuclear reactors and weapons.

Have you ever noticed that the governments which are NOT pro-Western are named "regimes" such as:
- Putin's (or Russian) regime.
- Chinese regime.
- North Korean regime.
- Iranian regime.
- Saddam's regime (former and toppled by the Western alliance).
- Gaddafi regime (former and toppled by the Western alliance).
- Syrian regime.
- Cuba's regime.
- Saudi government.
- Ukrainian government (current one, although eastern Ukrainian citizens did not participate in the last elections).
- Bahraini government.
- Qatari government.
- Moroccan government.
- Israeli CABINET.
Russia To Have SWIFT Alternative By May
As the West (US and its pressured allies) attempt to 'isolate' Russia more and more, the inevitable cornering further and further incentivizes Putin to develop alternatives to the status quo.In the past, western sanctioners have sabre-rattled cutting off Russian from SWIFT - the international inter-bank payment system - as a next step in squeezing the oligarchs into submission (though 'independent' SWIFT distanced itself from those calls).

Now however, as RT reports, Russia intends to have its own international inter-bank system up and running by May 2015. The Central of Russia says it needs to speed up preparations for its version of SWIFT in case of possible ”challenges” from the West. If successful, this would pose a further challenge to the USD's reign as sanction blowback reverberates once again.

The Western governments are carrying out military campaign against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), mainly by drones, intelligence and assisting Iraqi and semi-autonomous Kurdish government northern Iraq.
Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis in 2011, Western governments have applied economic and military sanctions against Syrian regime, including banning of oil export which mainly located in the northeastern Syrian territories (Deir Ez-Zor and Raqqa districts). So far, these oil-rich territories are controlled by ISIS.

Moreover, ISIS and other al-Qaeda affiliated groups (such as Jabhat al-Nusra) raised their budget by trafficking the Syrian oil through Turkey. According to al-Monitor:
Since then, the National Coalition did not sell a single barrel and the Ministry of Energy, affiliated with the coalition and located in Gaziantep, Turkey, was not able to fill any tank of Syrian oil found at the gates of the close-by Syrian city of Tal Abyad. This is where the oil is transported and refined to the account of Syrian, Arab and foreign emirs of the war and jihad. Then, it is sold to Turkish companies.
According to oil experts, compared with Iraqi oil reserves, the production of 380,000 barrels per day of Syrian oil is not a tempting offer, nor enough of an excuse to wage a war. However, Syrian oil has been and is still playing a role behind the scenes, especially in eastern Syria where it is mainly produced. The Western axis closed eyes on oil trafficking and piracy as long as these al-Qaeda affiliated groups carry out unmerciful fight against the Syrian regime. However, ISIS has eventually extended their controlled zones in Iraq. They controlled Sunni-inhabited regions at the beginning, and wove an alliance with pro-Saddam Baathist fighters led by Ezzat Eddouri. Afterwards, they controlled Mosul in the north and attacked Yazidis's stronghold in Sinjar.
The West does not need the Syrian oil. But the domestic war machine needs it. Meanwhile, the Islamic caliphate is expanding and seeking to reunite the jihad, banners, wells and tribes, after they were scattered. This reunification is one of the main elements of the jihadist fight between brothers on both sides of the Euphrates, and of the attack of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s “Kharijites” against the “apostates” of Jabhat al-Nusra leader Abu Muhammad al-Golani, in their bastion Shuhail. The former had chased off the latter from the eastern and western countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The Kharijites of Baghdadi entered Abu Kamal, besieged the opposition’s neighborhood in the heart of Deir ez-Zor, while they were at crossfire with the Syrian army on the other side of the besieged area.
ISIS has stolen $425 million when they raided Mosul to become the world's richest terrorist group.
Current military campaign against ISIS is, in fact, dealing with 'the symptoms' and neglects the underlying causes which will revive such fundamental organizations. The pro-Western middle eastern governments not only facilitated the migration of al-Qaeda affiliated groups into Syria, but they also offered intelligence and financial support to overthrow the Syrian regime and to decelerate the Iranian influence in the region as a net result.
Serious actions must be taken (rather than seasonal military interventions) to dry ISIS's economic 'arteries' and to fight their Saudi-based fascistic ideology and to stop their international migration, especially via Turkey.
