The Use of Religion In The Zionist Movement

The founder of  the Zionist movement Theodor Herzl was atheist. And most of the first-generation leaders were atheists too, like David Ben-Gurion. Nevertheless, they used the Torah and Talmud to convince the European and Soviet Jews to migrate to Palestine.
Ben-Gurion, the first Israeli president, had never used the word 'god' in his official speeches, although they came to Palestine, the "promised land",  according to Jewish belief.
